Background
MyprofessionalcareerbeganafterearningaBachelor’sinputerSoftwareandaMaster’sinputationalLinguistiPekingUyin1992and1995,respectively.PekingUyisohebestuiesina,andtheDepartmentofputerSceisohebestdepartmentsofPekingUy.AfterobtainingmyMS,IlefttheacademivirooworkasaDatabaseEngineerfortheputerteroftheSouthernAirlineofainGuangzhou.Duringthisemploymentperiod,Ihadtheopportunitytovisitmanypartsofa,frombigcitiestoremotemountainvilges.Ireizedthecolorfulregionalcultureofa,andIdevelopedabeliefthataprosperoussocietymustbeasocietywithmulticulturalcoexisteualrespedmutuallearning.
In1997,IcametoFudanUyinShanghai,easta,topursueadoctorateinputationalLinguistics.Shanghaiisa''srgestandmostprosperouscity.Itisalsothepceclosesttothewesterncultureina.ThroughoutmydoctoralstudiesIpublished5academicpapers,andIearnedmyPhDin1999.Directlyafterwards,IrelocatedtotheUatestopletepostdoctoralreseartheLanguageSceResearchGroupatWashingtonUyinSt.LouisuhesupervisionofProfessorLawrenceMoore.Later,byhisreendation,ImovedtoHarvardUytobeapostdoctoralfellowuhementorshipofaveryfamousstist,RobinsonJa.Heisparticurlywellknownforhismathematicaldescriptionandalgorithmdefinitiononnguagesyntaxanalysis.IoccasionallytraveledintheU.S.duringmypostdoctoralreseardmytravelssistentlyleftadeepimpressionofthebeautifulenviro,friendlypeople,andvibrantsocietyofUates.
Afterpletingmypostdoctoralwork,Iwaseagertocarryoutreseardepelyandtopursuemyideasfromthepastfewyearsofresearch,soIacceptedapositionasanAssociateProfessorintheDepartmentofputerSceofFudanUy,a.Thismarksthebeginningofmyindeperesearchcareer.Inthisrole,Ihaveadvisedvariousgraduatestudentsanddoctoraldidateseveryyear.In2014and2015,IcametotheCityUyofNewYork(ASNY)asavisitingprofessor,andalsoservedasadjunctprofessoratHugeyawnUy.ThesejobsenabledmoretactwithmoreAmericolleaguesandAmerisocietythanIhadpreviouslyenjoyedasapostdoctoralresearcheriedStates.ThetemporaryjobsinNYitedmydesiretoliveiedStateslong-term.
Reviewingmypastacademiccareer,Idivideitintes.Thefirststagewasmymaster''sekingUy.Ireceivedasystematiceducationofputationallinguistics,whichidagoodfoundationforallmyfurtherreseareofmyprojectsduringthistimeinvolvedthe,realizationoftheVietextprocessingsystem.WedevelopedamethodtoinputVietnamesecharactersintoputersystem,dispythemonas,editthemior,andprintthemost,werealizedmixedprocessingofese,English,ahreetypesofcharacters.Thesedofthisperiodarticipationintheese-Englishmaetranstionproject.Myworkinvolvedthepitionofesesyntaxrules.Ialsoindepelydevelopedaeseparser.Thismaetranstionsystemwasterbysomebusinessesandgoverdepartments,andhasreceivednumerousawardsfromtheesegover.
ThesedstageofmyresearpassesmydoctoralworkatFudanUy.Myresearterestsatthattimetratedonthemaetextdatabasesainformatiorieval.IjoiheyellowsearginedevelopmentprojewhichIrimarilyresponsiblefortheestablishmentofaheoryoftextindexingandthedesignofeffitindexingmodel.Thedevelopedsearginebasedonmytributionsperformedwell;itliedtoanumberofpracticalsystemssuccessfully.Ipublishedfouriialpeer-revieers,andydoctoralthesisbasedonthisachievement.Sofarthetotalcitationtofthesepapersandmythesisismorethan80.
ThethirdstageofmycareerincludesmypostdoctoralresearchatWashingtonUyandHarvardUy.MyworkfocusedonNaturalLanguageWordsandStructuresLearning.MysupervisorandIpublishedthreeiialpapersonthistopic.Imadetwomajortributions.Thefirstosalofawordlearningalgorithmbasedonrawtextcorpus.Weverifiedthatourmethodfunedindepelyofnguage.WegeedverygoodresultswithbothanEnglishcorpusandesecorpus.Additionally,weshowedthatthereweresomeouresindifferenthumannguages.Wealsofoundthatthelearningprocessofourmethodissimirtothelearningproaninfantsacquiringwords.Itispossibletorevealmoreaboutthemysteryofhumannguageacquisitioendingthislihought.Sed,byanalyzingthegrammaticalstructureofthesentenspeechreition,wedesignedalgorithmstoiheappropriatepunctuationsintoarawsentence,whichmadethespeechreitiobeorestandardizedwrittennguage.Sofarthetotalnumberofcitationstothesethreepapersisover50,andIhavebeencitedbyresearcherswattopinstitutionsaroundtheworld.
ThefourthstageofmyresearchcareeristhefacultystageatFudanUy.Duringthisperiod,Ihavefocusedonfurtherdevelopingideasfrommypreviousworks.Ihavealsoinitiatednewresearterests,maipressionaCssification,alsocalledprehensionbasedonpression.Ipublishedthreepapersinthistime.Thetotalheircitationsismorethan60todate,withcitationsfromstistswatemiiionalresearters.Ibelievethatpressionisthebasieansofhumannguageapplication.Peopleformutenguagerulesbecausetheyhopetopassoninformationmoreeasilyandachieveinterpersonalunioreeffitly.pressionmakesinformationshorter.So,thefirstrulefuageispression.Bothspeakerandlistenerwanttouseasfewsymbolsaspossibletoexpressasmuformationaspossible.Atthesametime,thetransmissionnoiseofmediaisiable,sotheexpressioainamountofredundantinformationisiable.However,bothsideswanttominimizetheredundantinformation.Thisisthebasicideaofnguagepression.Basedonthisidea,Ihavere-uoodthenguagediary,grammarrules,semanticexpression,anddesignedanewwordandgrammarruleslearnihods.Ihavealsoexploredtextsemantitheperspectiveoftextpression,andthehisnewuandingtoachievetextcssification.
